Entire 1848 Edinburgh to Alnwick with 1d red imperf on blued paper letters NK almost 4 margins (TR corner cut into), tied by barred numeral cancel 131 of Edinburgh, with twin arc CDS of Alnwick dated DE-31-1848 and Edinburgh datestamp of DE-30-1848. Also has a Mae West type "Too Late" handstamp, which according to records was the 2nd last day of use for this mark in Edinburgh. Great item, and late usage such as this is rare. -
Cover front 1878 Glasgow to Gibraltar mourning envelope with 5 x ½d bantams plate 13, strip 4 OF-OI plus single OL tied by Glasgow 159 duplex cancel. Letter front says "Per Packet via Southampton". No back unfortunately, but a valuable front nonetheless. Value of stamps on cover cat £350 alone -
Entire 1842 New York to London with "1/-" postage rate on front and London receivers mark " S OC 30 1842" (type 1/11 £125). Letter sent by Nevins Townsend & Co. (bond firm in New York) regarding prices in various states. No markings to indicate dispatch from the US unfortunately, but a fine lot nonetheless -
1725 Entire Bryanston to London. Addressed to "Reverend Dr Hill at his house in Cleveland Court, St James, London". Post paid 4 on front plus Bishop Mark "24/SE" type 1/4 (£40). Interesting contents, translation on reverse -
1728 entire Exeter to Launceston. Addressed to Mr Samuel Lyne, Attorney at Law in Launceston". Single line EXETER town mark type 3/5 (£40). Letter about issuing warrants and estate matters, as well as a complaint about postal services in their area! -
1725 entire London to Hereford with "7" surcharge on front, and very clear 25 MA Bishop Mark (type 1/4 £40). Nice contents regarding legal matters and an upcoming hearing. -
