Castlemaine & Maldon Railway - FDC set to commemorate the opening of Muckleford Section. Each cover was carried on the first official train. Not a high value set from 1979, but nonetheless a great piece for the railway enthusiast -
Italy - massive parcel piece from Italy to Mildura "Contains Mineral sample for gift". Contains 7 copies of SG2896 the €2,80 Lace Making Textile stamps, plus 12 x €3,00 SG2742, and a block of 10 of the €0,02 Women in Art issue SG2706. Face Value of stamps is €55,80, cat value is £150. A bit battered, but an impressive high postage value parcel front. -

Outer 1860 with 1d red star letters AC with "Posted since 7 last night" duplex 131 roller cancel. Datestamp has "seriffed letters" variety and EDINr variety (type 1b). Letter posted on a Sunday. Note the pic of reverse with a fantastic wax weal with stunning calligraphy "M and M" monogram (cut to open letter)! -
Outer 1858 with 1d red star letters RD tied by experimental roller cancel third type with lines between numerals. Also has "Posted since 7:20 last night" Edinburgh local stamp dated MY-12-1858. Nice piece, the third type roller cancels were used at the same time as the "Posted Since" handstamps -

Entire 1839 Glasgow to Rothesay with Glasgow Paid town mark boxed in red dated 15 FE 1839. The letter is very sweet, a letter from a little girl to her grandpapa written in quite beautiful writing (letter is grubby, looks like it has been read many times!). My children will never write that neatly! The child was one of the children of James McClelland, one of the founders, and first President of IAAG. Mary Ann, born in 1830, died in 1869 and is buried alongside her father and grandpapa in Glasgow necropolis. A wonderful piece of social history
